How to choose the Best Travel Backpack for your trip

Choosing the best travel backpack is one of the major decisions that you will need to make before leaving home. The backpack that you choose will be a part and parcel of your trips. There are some important things that you need to consider before purchasing your travel backpack. It took me hours of research online to decide which backpack I should buy! In this blog post, I am going to help you choose the best and cheapest travel backpack.

Multiple Compartments:

Before purchasing the travelling backpack, check and double check if the backpack has multiple compartments to separate your travelling stuffs. It comes in handy when you want to separate your belongings to different compartments so that you don’t have to get things disorganized for finding something you need. For me, I put my clothes in the main compartment, put daily used stuffs (i.e. toothpaste, brush, comb, body-spray etc) in the upper section so that whenever I need my brush in the morning, I do not have to go through my clothes to find my toothbrush. For wet clothes, I use plastic bags and put the stuffs in another compartment.

Internal Frame:

Today’s modern backpacks have internal-frame mechanism that adds an aesthetic look to the backpack by hiding the support rods and frames. The frames and rods are made of carbon fiber which significantly reduces the weight of the bag making it very lightweight to carry on your back. Also, the frame helps make things self contained so that you feel lightweight no matter how many stuffs you put in the backpack.

Size of the Travelling Backpack

When it comes to buying the best travel backpack, you should always consider the size of your backpack; too big and you can’t even move further; too small and you can’t fit all your important belongings. From my point of view, 50-80 liters backpacks would be the best choice for anyone intending to do any trips regardless of holiday or hiking or trekking trips.

Water Resistant Material

Although you might say that you have water resistant cover for your backpack, it is still important to check if your travel backpack has water resistant material. You never know when it rains and when it does, you will probably get your important documents and clothes wet. Check and double check if the backpack has water resistant material in it.

Good lockable zipper

Check if the backpack that you intend to buy has quality lockable zipper in the major compartments so that you can lock it when you leave your backpack to your Hotel. Before purchasing, check if the zipper works well. Zip back and forth a couple of times to see if the zipper is feasible.

Padded Hip Belt and Shoulder straps

Padded Hip belt helps you to be more comfortable and relaxed as the weight of your backpack always put the weight on your hips and the hip belt helps you support the weight. The shoulder strap helps you feel more comfortable by reducing the weight on your shoulder. As the weight always pushes downward, your shoulder will have to bear some pressure. The straps put less pressure on your shoulder.

My Recommendation:

When you purchase any Branded Backpacks, I can assure you that, you will get a quality backpack. Instead of low quality cheap backpacks, I would highly recommend you to buy a Good quality backpack so that it lasts longer.

For Trekking and Hiking, I would strongly recommend the Osprey Men’s Aether 70 Backpack (Amazon Bestseller). Check it on Amazon.

[…] List all the items you need on the trip but always bear in mind to travel light. Do not include clothes that require ironing.  Plan out what you’re going to wear for a particular day or time to avoid bringing excess baggage. It’s best to pack when all your clothes are laundered. Do not attempt to bring clothes you hardly ever worn; they’ll just consume space in your bag. (Wondering how to choose the best travel backpack? Read here ) […]
